Hudson at the beach

Hudson paused for a whole 10 seconds during our walk on the beach - we were lucky enough to capture the fine young man.

Hudson's been promoted to Silver!

There was a small miracle in Burghfield yesterday...Hudson had his sensible head on and passed the Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award!

This means he has mastered the art of:

• loose lead walking outside without pulling (only if hand stinks of sausage)
• two minute stay without moving (an excuse to have a rest)
• examination by the judge (an excuse for a fuss)
• controlled greeting (as above)
• getting in and out of the car in a controlled manner (another excuse for a rest)
• return to handler (an excuse for a fuss)
• return to handler from distractions - dogs, people etc (more fussing and there's probably sausage in it).

As you can see, bribery gets me everywhere!

Happy New Year from Hudson

Hudson's had a lovely Christmas and New Year - we've done so much walkie pawkies, made some new friends and had a fab time. Going to be a bit of a shock this week when we all return to our normal routine.

We've finished the puppy improver's course...and improved! Now it's the Kennel Club bronze award, which includes staying for one minute without moving a whisker - as you can see we're already in practice.

Hudson gets his toes wet

Last weekened we joined Cola, Mandy (half sister) and Suki (Mandy's Mum) for a lovely walk in Bramshill.

I couldn't get the camera out quick enough to provide evidence of Hudson swimming, but can happily confirm our puppy is no longer backwards and has officially been initiated as a proper labrador!

New car gets the Hudson seal of approval

The big white boat served it's purpose (the only good thing about it was zooming up behind people in the fast lane and them moving over thinking I was the fuzz) and it's time for a change. Meet the new Hudsonmobile - someone likes it.

Hudson discovered the Wellington puddle today - it's only taken him two and a half months! He took a bit of encouragement to begin with (this is where Mum and Aunty Dizzy would have come in handy) but once in it was fascinating sticking our nose under the water and blowing bubbles.

NEWS FLASH - labrador turns down food!

Hudson finished his puppy classes tonight and graduated with flying colours. He and his buddy Dustin caused havoc and much entertainment - not even handfuls of food could split these two up.

Amber (border terrier) and Gandolph (miniature schnauzer) got the right idea about puppy parties.

Fast forward to last weekend and Hudson's out and about and wanting to be everyone's friend, including Geoffrey! Geoffrey, on the other hand, prefers a quiet life.

Hudson's first bath

Given we'd rolled in poo, I decided that Hudson needed a bath this morning. And Hudson decided that I needed a bath too!

The hair dryer was a bit scary but after I coaxed him out from under the bed we had success, which largely involved him clinging to me for dear life and then chilling and seeming to fall asleep on my lap!

Hudson's puppy party

Hudson went to his first puppy party tonight and was exremely vocal about the whole thing! He made loads of new friends of the human and canine variety and was spoilt rotten.


This was shortly after all the puppies had been released and guess who's in the middle of this lot with a little spaniel pinned to the floor?

Hudson has discovered the stairs - darn it - and I'm currently hunting around for something to block the stairs that Noughts can still navigate.
