The further adventures of Dexter

Dexter has now met his new partner in crime, Hudson (senior). Didn't know what to do at first...
...soon got the hang of it and they had a good play together. Dexter later tried to cuddle up to Hudson but H wasn't having any of it (no pics of that).

But he was soon tired out and finally fell asleep on his own. He was so tired that he almost slept through the night... and so did we!

Hudson and Bonnie's reunion

Whilst Miss Diane and myself sat and supped coffee these two were tearing around like lunatics! And what we thought would be a mad five minutes turned out to be and hour and a half of mayhem!

There was one tired puppy when I got home - he didn't even flinch when Noughts walked past and made himself comfortable.

Tantrums and puppy dogs

What a day! Started well and ended well - the bit in the middle is a bit debatable!

We decided to visit Auntie Schoie today and we had HUGE tantrums in the car as we set off. So an impromptu trip to the pet shop to grab a car harness and millions of people wanting to help fit it! Little Hudson sat there proud as punch on the plastic bags on the counter lapping up the fuss.

So off we set again to Auntie Schoie's and my word did we howl all the way there. I now understand how parents can tune out to the screams of children.

Ice cubes - they do the job very nicely. Great on tiled flooring and keeps them amused for hours.

After a quick pony ride (saw Dizzy and Nutty lurking - I dread to think what Nutty had been rolling in but it was green) I dashed over to pick up Hudson - he hadn't moved an inch since I left! Completely sparko. Howled all the way home again but is now nicely settled and sparko again.

The Adventures of Dexter

Here are today's photos of Dexter. Today he has been mainly asleep in between bouts of running about.

We briefly lost him as he hid behind the kitchen door. We looked all over the garden for him but he finally came running when we rattled his food.
he likes this bone...
Tried his new collar on for the first time
very smart

don't spend money on toys... Today's favourite is an empty plantpot

First trip to the vet

Thought this pic had to go on your blog because it is a classic (the credit actually goes to Paul who got the shot - I have several with two or three puppies in it but never all 5 in a nice line).

The real story is that after having loaded all the puppies we started to reverse out of the drive and the car broke down!!! Discovered later that it had actually run out of petrol - very embarrassing! Luckily I had lots of help and several spare cars so we managed to offload, reload and still get to the vet in time.

Seek it Hudson, seek it!

OK, so I'm resigned to the fact that 5.30am wake up calls are the now the norm. Fortunately any whining and movement wakes Mr Chappell up first and I can get about another 20 mins of kip before having to get up.

Yesterday evening we played a great game of 'seek it' with Hudson's favourite toy.

Got it!

You seek it!

I'm so cute aren't I?

This morning was exciting - we saw the strange man next door with his wheelie bin, a couple of dogs walked past who sounded like fun and Mr Chappell forgot to clean up some poo so Mrs Chappell ended up with pooey flip flops and Hudson took great deliht in playing with the hose pipe as I tried to clean them up.

We're off out for our first outing today - the pet shop for some chews and maybe another toy...

OH. MY. GOD.

That was Noughts's (the cat) first reaction when we trundled on home last night with Hudson Chappell-Simms. Fortunately Hudson was a little too bleary eyed and confused to realise what was going on.

Bleary eyed and confused just about sums up the Chappell-Simms household this morning. We went for the crate in the bedroom option - with heavy breathing and everything (Hudson, not Mr Chappell).

It was a 5am start for a loo break and then back to bed for a bit. This morning we've tasted rosemary, sage, lobelia and weeds. Oh and we've unravelled Noughtster's scratching post for him...oops.

Bye Bye to the Puppies

So a sad goodbye to all the puppies this weekend, here they are heading off to the vet for their first vaccination, we got all of 5 yards backwards across the drive when we ran out of petrol!!!

Luckily we hadn't gone any further and we were able to offload them all into Paul's car.
